What A Difference A Week Makes

Question: When was the last time Wyoming was receiving votes in a Football Poll?

Answer:TODAY
While 8 votes in the coaches poll and 3 in the AP aren’t a whole bunch it’s more than the Pokes have had in a long time (2016?).

Let’s hope this recognition of the Pokes beating TT doesn’t go to the players heads or Poke Fans either for that matter!

Expectations can go from the penthouse to the outhouse in a heartbeat.

Pokes aren’t in the Penthouse, but at least for this week they are on the up elevator heading towards a spot in the top 25.

While ‘others receiving votes’ isn’t the panacea, it a far cry from being in the Bottom 10.

In the AP Poll Pokes are ‘tied’ with Fresno and Troy (Minnesota Auburn also received 3 votes) Tulane is the only G5 ranked in the top 25.

In the Coaches Poll Tulane, Fresno (30) and Troy (11) are the G5 schools receiving more votes Wyoming , (AF received 7)

For me, everything considered, Week 1 was filled with unexpected surprises! I’m just going to enjoy it.

GO POKES

Do yourself a favor and savor it.

One of the bigger wins in program history. And given the landscape of Wyoming’s decreasing buying power as it pertains to instant transfer rules, paying players, ESPN directly influencing conference membership, the ESPN bowl monopoly, and the P5 migrating more to a P3, this victory may be bigger than we realize. Amazing WYO can still get a good B12 program to travel to the high plains and amazing WYO can win this game given such a disparity of resources...and I suspect there will be fewer of these type of victories across the G5.

For those that predicted only one conference win...rejoice, the team has already met your expectations.

For those believing it critical for Wyoming to perform in the face of the P12 demise,...rejoice, they did.

For those getting tired of our P5 wanna be brethren SDSU, UNLV, and CSU looking down their nose at us, rejoice as we can feel superior for at least a week.

For those whose dislike Bohl and your desire to see him fail is taking away from the joy of this victory, try to enlarge you tiny black hearts and take a few minutes to revel in the moment.

OSU AD frustrated by lack of clarity concerning PAC 12 assets

So how much and what do OSU and WSU get of PAC 12 assets. Also three options for the two schools going forward.

RB's....

I can't hardly wait for Waylee to come back from his injury. Sorry but I do not see what others are seeing in D. Q. James. He had that one nice run where he didn't go down and kept on running, but other than that, if he was hit he went down. His yards after contact has to be very low other than that one run. I was expecting to see some real speed and quickness and getting outside from both James and Ferrell, and it just wasn't there. Maybe the coaches say, run it up the middle, but they know that they will really get nothing for it and are just setting up for other plays. Last year James had some gaudy numbers, but those were based upon running him outside on specific occasions, and it was not on him being on an every down type of back. James and Ferrell are NOT "A" gap runners, period. But they kept running in there and they were being constantly taken down on the first contact. I knew that we were going to miss McNeely, but not as bad as we are. I am especially concerned once we get into conference play. If it hadn't been for Sam Scott and Peasley we really wouldn't of had any run game at all. James and Ferrell looked really small out there!

I hope the coaches reevaluate that move of Parks to CB, and move him back to RB right now! After Waylee comes back, I would have Waylee as #1 & Scott as #2. To me, Ferrell and James (even though have big hearts), they are not every down backs imo. I would use them in special ways.

Peasley - 15 carries for 76 yards, 4.5 average
Scott - 7 carries for 44 yards, 6.3 average
James - 9 carries for 38 yards, 3.9 average
Ferrell - 7 carries for 21 yards, 3.0 average

This distribution of carries cannot keep going imo. Peasley is too valuable to be running him that much. James and Ferrell were not making any yardage, 59 yards for your two main backs doesn't cut it. I hope that when Waylee comes back he is ready to carry the rock!

Thank goodness that Peasley was able to read blitzes and hit the right guys at critical times. If we didn't pass it as well as we did, we would have lost the game.

My one criticism

I get what the athletic department is trying to do with the stripe out concept, but it just doesn’t work. People either aren’t paying attention or just don’t care to take part and it end up looking really weird on TV. I wish they would just decide to do a brown out or gold rush game and try to get everyone in the same color. I think that would be far more effective and would look 1000 times better in TV, thank goodness most of what you saw were the students who showed out to n gold only.

Oh What. A Night….

Great win for the team, they believed in themselves which is something I’ve not see in a while.

Coaching was solid tonight, also something I’ve not seen in awhile..

Thought officiating was less then stellar, but hey, we won…

WiFi services in War was M.I.A.

Great crowd, great electricity….

Before I forget, wallet fattened nicely with taking home two of the three wagers placed.

Go Pokes

Wyoming's HC offensive philosophy.......

Now that we live in an age of AI and the crunching of numbers, I decided to dedicate part of my precious afternoon nap time to looking at the reasons behind the Wyoming offensive woes over the last 10 years. After hours and hours of studying the analytics, crunching numbers, looking at the match-ups, studying game film, I have finally been able to boil down the issues to this game some, and after all of this work I have come to the regrettable conclusion that Texas Tech has an offense and Wyoming doesn't! The saddest problem is that our head coach has a problem that was lately diagnosed, Craig Bohl as an old-time defensive coach, has developed a highly allergic reaction to the end zone. Every time he gets near the end zone with his offense he starts shaking his head and wanting to call the place kicker into the game. This way he can get away from the end zone as quickly and easily as possible.
