Once Coach Shyatt's staff was able to establish the program in the first four years and get out of the deep hole he inherited, I always thought UW basketball could take this to the next few levels in the next four year cycle. One thing UW sports has missed is an opportunity to build off success (Incremental program improvements). Usually a coach fails or he has success and moves, and then momentum is stopped and digresses.
One example, I felt Joe Tiller was really starting build momentum in the mid-nineties after some earlier struggles in his tenure. It was a mistake let him out the door, in turn, the program was not able to build forward and actually has had it's struggles since. But if Tiller had stayed, I think the situation could had been much more positive in following years.
