Since it is a hot topic right now, below are the two missions for 1WYO and 505 SVF. Either 1WYO has a misleading mission, or it has very little to do with the NIL.
1WYO:
1WYO was established in 2023 to help strengthen, promote, and otherwise support charitable causes throughout Wyoming – providing in-kind contributions and support to local partner charities and engaging community-minded Wyoming student athletes to use their influence and talent to elevate the philanthropic work that our partner charities perform.
505 SVF:
505 Sports Venture Foundation is a New Mexico-based non-profit corporation dedicated to the support of college athletes seeking to monetize the use of their name, image and likeness (NIL).
If 1WYO is all we have to support NIL at UW, and the mission above would say otherwise, who is at fault for this? We are sitting here in March 2024 and this is the NIL program for UW? If NIL is so important to the current day success of college sports, which I agree it is, wouldn't you assume the college athletic department has to be somehow involved in getting something set up? Are we concerned that we as a group on this message board are probably some of the most die-hard and loyal UW fans and nobody has an idea what our NIL program is?
