Cowboys Host Colorado State in First Edition of This Season’s Border War

LARAMIE, Wyo. (Jan. 16, 2025) – The Wyoming Cowboys welcome the Colorado State Rams to the Arena-Auditorium on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. in this season's first edition of the Border War. It will be the 243rd meeting between the schools in a series that dates back to 1911.

On Saturday, 5,000 fans will receive a Cowboy Basketball Rally Towel courtesy of FNBO.

Fans can watch and listen to the contest, as well as follow stats on GoWyo.com. The game will be broadcast live on radio over the 26 affiliate stations of the Cowboy Sports Network, as Keith Kelly will be on the call alongside Kevin McKinney.

About The Teams
Wyoming heads into the contest with a 9-8 overall record after falling on the road to Boise State on Tuesday night. UW is shooting 36 percent from behind the arc this season to rank third in the conference. Wyoming is shooting 41.8 percent from behind the arc in conference play to lead the league. The Cowboys are shooting 45.3 percent from the field with opponents shooting 44 percent. The Pokes are grabbing 35.4 rebounds per game this season and are +4 in rebound margin.

Colorado State heads into the contest with a 10-7 overall mark and a 4-2 record in the conference after falling to San Diego State 75-60 on the road on Tuesday. CSU is shooting 46.4 percent and hold opponents to 41.6 percent from the field. The Rams make 8.1 threes per game this season and are shooting 77.8 percent from the free throw line. The Rams add 16.9 assists per game to rank second in the conference this season and No. 38 in the nation.

About The Players
The Cowboys are led by Obi Agbim at 18.3 points per game to rank second in the conference. He is shooting 46.6 percent from behind the arc to lead the league and rank sixth in the nation. Jordan Nesbitt added his sixth double-double of the season at Air Force to rank third in the MW and No. 33 in the nation. He adds 8.6 points per game and 7.5 rebounds per night to lead the team and rank fourth in the MW. Kobe Newton adds 8.8 points per game and has made 28 threes for the season. Wyoming has eight players averaging five or more points per game this season.

The Rams are led in scoring this season by Nique Clifford at 16.6 points per game. He also leads the team with 9.7 rebounds per game, which ranks second in the MW and No. 20 in the nation. He is shooting 50 percent from the field. Jalen Lake adds 12.9 points per game for the season with 3.1 rebounds per game and leads the team with 37 three pointers.

About The Series
The Cowboys lead the al-time series 139-103 and own a 81-40 record in the series in Laramie. The Pokes have won the last three contests played at the Arena-Auditorium with two of those coming in overtime.
