The 2015 Wyoming Football recruiting class is one to remember. Included among the 23 players announced by head coach Craig Bohl on Wednesday was the first Wyoming football recruit in history to be named to the Parade All-American Team. That was running back Kellen Overstreet from Hamilton, Mo.

included among this year's Cowboy signing class were two individuals who were named Gatorade Player of the Year for their home states of Nebraska and Colorado. Those two were C.J. Johnson from Omaha, Neb., and Andrew Wingard from Arvada, Colo.

GoWyoGo.com received some notes and quotes from Wednesday's conference and here is the breakdown.

COWBOYS ONE SCHOLARSHIP REMAINING

"We will keep that in our pocket and pull it out at the right time (on open scholarship)," said Bohl.

GoWyoGo.com Note: At this level of recruiting, there is a trickledown effect. Yarborough was offered and committed to Arizona State. Wyoming had offered him and stayed in touch in case anything happened. Signing day came and Arizona State told him it was sorry, but it did not have a scholarship for him. He called Wyoming, asked if they still had interest, and he became a Cowboy.

14 defense, 9 offense. Not only defense but speed. A key thing was knowing they need to upgrade athleticism for special teams, as well as defense.

BOHL ON THE CLASS

"This year is a reflection of our focus and attention. One thing we did last year was develop a Wyoming profile, what we are going to look for. We did a lot of research into what the University of Wyoming did when it was successful, whether it was in the Paul Roach era or Joe Tiller era. (Bohl drove to Buffalo and had a sit down with Joe Tiller. He also met many times with Paul Roach in Laramie). One thing didn't change from era to era. Young men who intended to get a meaningful degree at the University of Wyoming and wanted to win a conference championship at Wyoming."

DEFENSIVE LINE

"Critical for us was the defensive end position. It's important to have a couple high school kids with a junior college player. We wanted to stagger the distraction on our roster."

WYOMING PRIORITY

"We need to have more young men pulling for the University of Wyoming rather than at the University of Wyoming. When you have home-state talent the drive is a little more."

"You have a squad size of 115. There is a cap. These young men are guaranteed a spot on the 115-mn roster and those are prime spots."

Skylar Clinton was a QB, RB. Will be a LB. Three sport star.

Antonio Hull, as well as a CB, is a kick returner and punt returner. 19 TDs, one punt and one kickoff.

Tavita Faaiu has some athleticism. In Cal JUCO title game recovered a fumble and ran 100 yards for a TD.

Justice Murphy was the first player the Wyoming staff offered.

C.J. Johnson's father played for Nebraska when Bohl was a coach.

Andrew Wingard's father was a punter at Nebraska when Bohl was a coach. "I asked his father where Andrew got his speed,'' said Bohl. ``He said, `His mother'".

Kellen Overstreet first Parade All-American to sign with Wyoming.

James Price is bright. Was admitted to Columbia. Going to major in petroleum engineering.

MORE BOHL QUOTES

"This class represents the first year we have been able to implement a full cycle of our recruiting efforts," said Bohl. "We entered this recruiting year with the intentions of filling our class with young men who fit what we call the 'Wyoming Profile'. The 'Wyoming Profile' is a young man who wants to get a meaningful degree from the University of Wyoming, win a Mountain West Conference Championship and have a laser-like focus in accomplishing those two goals.

"I can tell you that the response we received from recruits across the country really shows how they are buying into the direction of our program, they recognize the proud tradition of the University of Wyoming and believe we are in step with bringing that great tradition back here.

"We believe our class this year represents a very competitive group of players who were part of winning football teams. We feel like we need to establish a more competitive nature within our program and these young men certainly do that. Along with that, there is a lot of speed and athleticism in this class.

"We did recruit more players to play defense because we felt like we needed to shore up our special teams and the defensive side of our football team.

"There are young men in this class from a variety of areas around the country, but they all came here with the same goals -- to win a Mountain West Conference Championship and get a meaningful degree from Wyoming.

"This is a year-long effort and a collective effort. Not only was it a great job by our recruiting coordinator, Gordie Haug, who organized this process but by all our assistant coaches who logged many, many miles late at night, early in the morning, building relationships, attending high school games, evaluating tape. This is the fruit of the labor of a whole lot of people."
