Over $1.4 Million Raised in Less Than Two Months
Laramie, Wyo. (Aug. 18, 2020) – On Aug. 18, the University of Wyoming Athletics Department launched the WHYoming NOW fundraising campaign to help meet the needs of UW student-athletes during the challenging times created by the COVID-19 pandemic. As the campaign concludes in October, the response by Wyoming fans to the campaign has been incredible, with over $1.4 million being raised in less than two months.
“Once again our donors have showed how passionate they are about providing our student-athletes with the resources they need to be successful,” said Tom Burman, University of Wyoming Athletics Director. “Even in these challenging times, Wyoming fans have stepped forward to help insure the future of our athletics program remains strong. We want to thank everyone who made a contribution to the WHYoming NOW campaign.”
“It is absolutely amazing how generous our fans and donors have been despite the uncertainty in the state’s economic situation,” said Randy Welniak, Senior Associate Athletics Director for Development and Revenue Enhancement. “We are so fortunate to have people who truly care about making a positive impact on our young men and women here at the University of Wyoming.”
By donating to WHYoming NOW supporters of Cowboy and Cowgirl Athletics helped protect the future of UW student-athletes and helped maintain the proud tradition of Cowboy and Cowgirl Athletics that has been built over decades.
Donations to the WHYoming NOW campaign were 100% tax deductible and were matched by the state of Wyoming. Contributions will go toward meeting the academic, mental health and nutritional needs of UW student-athletes, while allowing student-athletes to continue to train for a return to competition, which is something all Wyoming fans are looking forward to in the future.
