Remember how we won nine games last year so the old used car salesman could go out on a high note exactly one game above .500 for his decade here? And then remember how we hired his top lieutenant, at his urging, and at the cost of hiring his inexperienced son, in order to build on his legacy and ensure “continuity?”
And remember how some of us even tried to believe it might work, since we were coming off a technically successful season with plenty of returning players, especially since we wanted to avoid the trap of the dreaded transfer portal?
But then remember how it failed SPECTACULARLY and we went 3-9 and turned in one of the three worst seasons in the last 20 years? Lost the Border War and the whole deal.
I’m asking if anyone remembers because it happened about 6 days ago and it’s been wiped off the internet like it never happened. No stories from anyone about potential changes to the program. No comments from Burman. Not a whisper of any staff moves. Today’s propaganda drop is all about signing day and Sawvel’s next steps to build the roster.
I think, after this dumpster fire of a season, not a single person is getting fired. If they were, it probably would have happened this week. Maybe we’ll see a coordinator change next week but even that is looking iffy.
Sawvel gets a second season. Completely unbelievable but not a bit surprising.
