I guess my headline got chopped, but I spelled out "Wyoming's". For several years now it has become more and more apparent to me that Wyoming's position in the MWC is not one that is good for UW. The conference is basically run by a few schools and screw UW. The way the postseason basketball tourney is handled in basketball and the way that Boise State has gotten its way in football are prime examples. I am sure that there are power players in every conference, but at least in a higher conference we would get more money to run the program. In the MWC we got a fraction of the money and still get spit on from time to time.
I would hope that Tom and the new president and the board of trustees are working on a plan to see Wyoming get out of the MWC.
I am more than aware of where would we go question being asked. But we are slowly dying as a member of the MWC. The first and foremost the university, its president, trustees and athletic administration has to come up with a clear plan to get Wyoming out of the MWC and into the Big 12 or similar conference. This means the resources have to be put into winning NOW not later and that facilities have to be brought up to the standards of the bigger conferences. I know that this takes a huge amount of money, and it is ok with me if Wyoming goes into debt some to achieve this. I think that this plan has to be presented as if we don't do this then Wyoming will have to be dropping down....I don't want to see this, and I think the vast majority of people in the state of Wyoming don't want to see this. This is why it is critical that Cowboy Joe people and Wyoming fans every where become more politically active and work hard to getting the right people elected in all of the areas of Wyoming that will help get this accomplished.
What say you? Are we going to go up or go down....we can't stay where we are.....
