A win over Cal would certainly propel us into the discussion of a finish in the 2 to 5 range in the MWC and possibly in the tourney we go a bit deeper. Maybe more! A loss would not necessarily cancel our ability to finish in that 2 to 5 range, but it may require a bit more body of work for us to get to that point. The nice wins over Montana State and DU give us cause to be hopeful.
I would suggest the Montana State win might be bigger, since we had lost to them earlier, and at Laramie we progressed and we did it at home. The DU win was on the road and in a venue that for whatever reason the Cowboys have not done well. The play at the end of the DU game and the 16-0 run may well be a defining moment in the maturity of this team. The emergence of Herndon in the last two games, the continued steady play of JMcM , the growth of JJ and the importance of Adams leading the team all factor in for Saturday. Add in a loud and vocal crowd and the bottom line going into Saturday is that this could be one of the biggest "anticipation games" in recent years. I like how it is coming together with the interesting scrimmage against Fort Lewis and the growth of the team in the last 7 games. BTW--CU didn't have an easy time with Fort Lewis a couple of days ago and they played their starters virtually the entire game as compared to Wyoming's starters not playing in the second half and at a time before the very beginning of the season.
A no lose situation for the Pokes, but a win would certainly change the dynamics of the season and be a great early Christmas present to the team and all of us fans. It's a great time as always to be a W Y O fan!
ALSO: Join us at Johnson's Corner at 8:00 a.m on Saturday morning for Cowboys in Colorado on the way up to the Dome! The plan is to have one or two speakers from the AD office to answer questions and give us an update.
