I found what appears to be a decent motel for half what the chains are charging. I was checking out hotel/motel sites in the Boone, NC area in anticipation of going to see the Pokes play the Mountaineers on October 3. All the establishments double their rates on game days. Most going for $150-plus per night. However, I found a family-owned motel, Green's Motel for about half the price of the chains and I booked it. From the ratings it seems to be clean and comfortable, but not exactly high end. Here's a link to make reservations: Click Here

As with any college town, lodging can be tough, so I recommend getting the reservation now just to be safe.
