FOIA's

I understand that several members of the press are in the process of preparing and submitting FOIA's to UW. The purpose of this is to find out what, if any communication took place between UW and the PAC. UW under Tom Burman has become less and less transparent to everyone, but especially to the fan base. We are expected to not ask any questions, but to just open our wallets whenever CJC comes a calling.

If the move of these four schools out of the MWC to the PAC was a surprise to Tom Burman he should be relieved of his duties for being clueless. Since it is obvious that UW was caught off guard by todays announcement then Tom Burman should be relieved of his duties for the shear reason of incompetence in not being prepared for something that was obviously going to be happening. Lastly, Tom Burman should be relieved of his duties for the lack of preparing UW to be able to move up in conferences if the chance should come around. So any way that you look at it, Tom Burman is long past due to being relieved of his duties and the UW President and the UW BOT have been derelict in their duties of overseeing and making sure the athletic department is being run in a fashion that will be the most beneficial to UW and the State of Wyoming . The one thing about Tom Burman, he has learned to use limitations of money or other such constraints to cover his lack of achieving goals, in other words Tom Burman has no problem using anything to act as a crutch and excuse for his lack of imagination and success for planning UW's future.

So looking ahead, what do we do?

I say we jettison Hawaii and SJSU, leaving Nevada, UNLV, UNM, AFA and Wyo. We look to add at least three from Montana, Montana State, Utep and New Mexico State. Possibly a couple of the Dakota schools. Today's announcement only brings the PAC to six schools, two short of the requirement. I'm guessing they're making a play to get Stanford and Cal back. If that doesn't happen, the PAC will be looking for two more. I'm guessing they already have interest from Cal and Stanford, which is why they only took four MWC teams (perhaps the other two are from somewhere else, but I think they've got a total of eight somehow, from somewhere, already in the bag).

What's everyone's thoughts about SJSU, Hawaii and the candidates for the MWC expansion?

Food for thought....

Comparing Evan Svoboda to Josh Allen, here's a comparison to JA17's first few games and Evan's first few games.
Josh Allen's first start was a loss to EMU in 2015. Then he broke his collarbone and was out for the year. He's equal with Svoboda at this point, except Svoboda lost to TEXAS.
Allen then in 2016 went to beat NIU at home in 2 overtimes after a lengthy lightning delay and then lost at Nebraska 52-17 the following week.
EMU went 1-11 in 2015. Their sole win was against us. NIU went 5-7 in 2016. Nebraska went 9-4, losing to #21 Tennessee in the Music City Bowl.
Comparing that to Svoboda's first three games, last season he lost to Texas. Then he lost to AZST, who kicked an SEC team's ass tonight, then he lost to Idaho, who hung with a top 10 ranked Oregon team.
For his first three games, he's had it tougher than JA17 did, and next week Svoboda gets BYU. To compare to Josh his 4th game was UC Davis, which he won.
Then Josh played EMU again and lost. Again. EMU went 7-6 this season, losing to Old Dominion in the Bahamas Bowl.

Also take into consideration the cast of players Josh had available versus those Svoboda has available...

Just sayin is all....

Go Pokes

Dread…..

I’ve attended Cowboy football games in Laramie for 60 years. I’ve seen the Pokes play a lot of great games and a lot of shitty games. However, I always felt good about and excited for the next game.

I’ve never had the “dread” feeling I have for the game against BYU this week. This will hopefully be the last time we play these arrogant SOBs and you know they will want to clobber their hated rival if they can.

Hopefully my feelings are way off..

There is a story out there that San Diego St turned down the Big12...

This comes from the Monty show, but evidently the offer was that San Diego State would come in at a half share and would not make any money off of the new TV deal that the Big12 signed. Monty feels that it would be better if SDSU had signed because they would have gotten about $13 million. I am sure that the Big12 wanted the San Diego market and wanted it on the cheap. I bet that SDSU thinks that they will get more in the long run from a new TV deal for the MWC from Fox and CBS. But an interesting story just the same.

Pokes in the NFL (Week #1)

Pokes in the Pros: Week 1

LARAMIE, Wyoming (9/10/24) – The National Football League season got underway this past week. Plenty of former University of Wyoming football players made an impact for their respective professional organizations.

Josh Allen led the way for the former Cowboys. He helped the Buffalo Bills rally from a two-score deficit to a 34-28 victory over Arizona.
Allen was ultra efficient. He finished the game 18-for-23 for 232 yards and two touchdowns. He added 39 yards on nine carries and another two scores.
Below is a list of the other former Wyoming student-athletes and how they did in Week 1.

Carl Granderson, New Orleans Saints
Granderson and the Saints destroyed Carolina on Sunday. He made three tackles from his defensive end position in New Orleans’ 47-10 victory. Dating back to last season, Granderson has now boasted at least three tackles in 16 of his last 17 games played.

Logan Wilson, Cincinnati Bengals
Wilson and the Bengals fell to New England, 16-10, on Sunday. He piled up a game-high 13 tackles from his linebacker position, which included one tackle for loss and three quarterback hits. That ties Wilson for fourth in the league after one week of action.

Marcus Epps, Las Vegas Raiders
Epps and the Raiders dropped a 22-10 decision at the Los Angeles Rams. He tied for second on the team with five tackles from his safety position. Dating back to last season, that’s now three straight games played with multiple tackles.

Chad Muma, Jacksonville Jaguars
Muma and Jacksonville narrowly lost at Miami, 20-17, on Sunday. He registered two tackles from his linebacker position. It was the first time since Nov. 12 of last year that Muma recorded a stat.

Andrew Wingard, Jacksonville Jaguars
Wingard did not play due to an injury in Jacksonville’s 20-17 loss at Miami on Sunday.

Tashaun Gipson, Jacksonville Jaguars
Gipson did not play due to a suspension in Jacksonville’s 20-17 loss at Miami on Sunday.

Frank Crum, Denver Broncos
Crum was inactive for Denver in the Broncos, 26-20, loss at Seattle.

Treyton Welch, New Orleans Saints
Welch is currently participating on the Saints’ practice squad. New Orleans defeated Carolina, 47-10, on Sunday.

Sawvel's comments...

Sawvel's comments after the game I felt were basically 'coaches speak', nothing new, no changes, it is all on the coaches to coach better, and we are playing like an 0-2 team. No Coach Sawvel, we are playing like an 0-12 team, we just haven't played enough games as yet. Coach Sawvel also went on to talk about players with experience but that we have players with a lack of experience. I might believe this coaching BS if it wasn't for the fact that the two players that made the most egregious mistakes were both seniors!!!! It was very unlike both of these players to make mistakes like this, so what is the answer or reason? More coaches speak?

The players are talking about sticking together which is great, and the HC is talking about coaching better. Sawvel also talked about the mistake on the goal line by the FB was inexcusable. If it were Bohl the young man would probably be sitting, but will Sawvel do the same thing? I doubt it. Sawvel talks about how mistakes have to be corrected, but have the players learned anything from all of his 'coaching'? Can Sawvel make the tough decisions?

The bottom line, I am doubting that we will see any changes, and the emphasis will solely be on execution. The problem is even without the mistakes, this team does not seem to be good enough to win. The margin of error for this squad is so thin it is almost invisible, as they appear to have to play above their heads to win so far. Things will get even tougher here soon with the likes of BYU, Boise State, Washington State on the schedule. Someone else pointed out, that it wasn't like Sawvel was given an empty cupboard when he took over the HC job. Burman chose Sawvel because of the continuity, but if Sawvel isn't going to win with the team that he inherited then what good was Tom's decision? Frankly I feel that we need to make a change at the AD level, but it appears that no one of the Board of Trustee's or with the university president seemed to be interested in making in change, just keep going on with the status quo.

Is it time to over react now?

Seriously might not win a game! I never thought i’d see a worse offense than Bohl ball!! As usual WR can’t get any separation! OLine is soft and D is slow! If a D1 Defense can’t play man coverage against an FCS team there’s something wrong. Svboda is terrible!! Play calling is horrendous! But what do you expect when a first year Defensive HC hires an OC. BYU gonna lay 50 on UW!!
