Bowl eligibility count 10-22

Need 84 teams

Eligible - 27
5 - 23
4 - 29
3 - 30
2 - 16
1 - 4
7 or more losses - 2

With 5 weeks remaining the question will be how many 3 win teams win at least 3 and how many 4 win teams win 2. Maybe a 2 win team wins 4.

The next 3 weeks should be very defining.

The Pokes are in control of their own destiny so to speak in getting to the MWC championship game. Simply win out and go 9-3(7-1). Getting to 7-5(5-3) keeps them in play for one of the MWC bowl slots. Must win road games coming up!

...are so boring. The only thing I did was catch up with the season ticket holder next to me and learn the names/numbers of the players again. The returning players played well, and I do like two of the new Cowgirl players, #3 Fr Grace Moyers from Erie, CO, and #12 Malene Pederson from Denmark through KSU. I'd like to see how Moyers plays against a higher level of competition. As a freshman, she seemed to fit in very well.

DQ

Bohl is rigid. Bohl is stubborn. Bohl may in fact think it is 1938 and is hallucinating that his players are wearing leather helmets.

And yet even he should be able to see that this team needs more from DQ James. IMHO, he needs to be on the field for at least half the snaps running in motion as a decoy for the jet sweep and standing in the backfield on one side of Peasely with Swen on the other side. I get that DQ is tiny. But he seems to have pop and looks fearless. And that burst through the hole looks on the level of Darren Sproles.

(Oct. 27, 2022) –The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced today the 20 watch list members for the 2023 Karl Malone Power Forward of the Year Award and Wyoming’s Graham Ike was named to the list. Swen MW offensive POW

Titus Swen Named Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week

Swen Helps Lead Wyoming to 28-14 Win Over Utah State

Laramie, Wyo. (Oct. 24, 2022) –
University of Wyoming junior running back Titus Swen was named the Mountain West Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Monday for his performance in Wyoming’s 28-14 home win over Utah State last Saturday.

Swen rushed for 160 yards and three rushing touchdowns in Wyoming’s win over the Aggies. He broke through the Utah State defense for his first touchdown in the first quarter on a 30-yard dash to the end zone. In the second quarter, Swen added a five-yard TD, and he sealed the win for the Pokes in the fourth quarter when he scored from six yards out and added a two-point conversion run to give Wyoming a two touchdown lead with 4:11 remaining in the game.

The junior from Fort Worth, Texas, scored 20 of Wyoming’s 28 points, with three TDs and a two-point conversion. His 160 rushing yards was the second best rushing performance of the season in the Mountain West. He also added one reception for five yards to total 165 yards of all-purpose yardage on the night.

Of Swen’s 28 rushing attempts 13 went for five yards or more and five were for 10 or more yards. He averaged 5.7 yards per carry and was responsible for gaining nine of Wyoming’s 28 first downs on the night.

He enters this week with 665 rushing yards this season, which ranks No. 3 in the Mountain West and No. 29 in the nation. His seven rushing touchdowns this season rank him No. 4 in the conference and No. 36 nationally.

Swen helped the Wyoming offense generate its best single-game highs this season of 330 rushing yards and 529 yards of total offense.

This is Swen’s first Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week award of his career.

Basketball scrimmage

Surprised no one has posted yet. Good crowd at Storey Gym. Maldonado didn’t practice and Kyman didn’t play in the scrimmage.

What can you say about Ike; he’s a monster and is moving better than he did last year. Looks to be down 10 pounds. I thought Wenzel shot the ball well and is just the type of glue guy a good team needs. Also, I must give praise to Hunter Thompson. He looks much quicker, rebounded and shot the three ball from the wing on Ike’s side. That is going to be a matchup nightmare for teams.

Very impressed with Caden Powell. Real active and bouncy. He is going to be a good defender and rim protector. Noah looked bigger and is able to get to the basket with that left hand. JO also was JO - just does everything so smoothly. Anderson will be the key; strong presence with ball and can defend. He won’t score much but won’t have to. Max didn’t shoot the ball well from the outside but scored on the fast break with ease.

This team is so long and can get up the floor with JO, Max, Maldo, Dusell, and Anderson. Or will pound you down low with Ike or play the two-man game with Ike and Maldo.

I would say Linder’s primary rotation will be: Ike, Maldo, JO, Max, X, Anderson, Reynolds, Wenzel, and Thompson with a smattering of Foster and Powell. Wildcard is Kyman because he doesn’t practice a lot. Not sure if it is injury prevention or what.
