Cowboys Host Lobos in Key Mountain West Matchup

Wyoming vs New Mexico Game Notes:
LARAMIE, Wyo. (Feb. 5, 2024) - The Wyoming Cowboys host the New Mexico Lobos in the Arena-Auditorium on Tuesday evening in a key Mountain West Conference matchup at 6:30 p.m tipoff. It is the first game of a two game homestand for the Brown and Gold.

The contest will be streamed on the Mountain West Network. Fans can watch, listen to the contest, as well as follow stats on GoWyo.com. The game will also televised on Altitude. The game will be broadcast live on radio over the 26 affiliate stations of the Cowboy Sports Network, as Keith Kelly will be on the call alongside Kevin McKinney.

About The Teams
Wyoming is 12-10 on the season with a 5-4 mark in conference play after falling on the road at UNLV by a score of 62-48 on Saturday. The Pokes are an impressive 8-1 in the Dome of Doom this season. Wyoming is shooting 38.4 from behind the three-point line this season for first in the MW and No. 16 in the nation. The Pokes are also getting it done at the line shooting 75.1 percent for second in the MW. The Cowboys are grabbing 34.9 rebounds per game and 36.1 per game in conference play for fourth in the league.

New Mexico heads into the game with a 18-4 record and a 6-3 mark in the Mountain West. The Lobos are receiving votes in both the Associated Press and Coaches' polls. The Lobos are averaging 84.1 points per game for the season to rank first in the MW and No. 17 in the nation. One of the top rebounding teams in the nation averaging 38.7 per game to rank first in the MW and No. 55 in the nation. The Lobos average 9.8 steals per game for the season a number that ranks first in the MW.

About The Players
Wyoming is led in scoring this season at 17.7 points per game for third in the MW and No. 101 in the nation. He leads the team with 52 triples on the season for fifth in the MW. Akuel Kot adds 15 points per game and has 46 threes on the season ranking No. 13 in the MW in scoring. Mason Walters adds 12.7 points per game and 5.3 rebounds per game. Brendan Wenzel adds 9.8 points per game and 5.6 rebounds. He has scored in double-figures in three-straight games.

New Mexico is led in scoring by Jamal Mashbrun Jr. and Donovan Dent at 15.5 points per game. Dent leads the team with 5.9 assists per game for the season. Jaelen House adds 15.4 points per game and adds 2.8 steals per game. JT Toppin, one of the best freshmen in the nation adds 12.8 points per game and leads the team with 8.5 rebounds per game.

About The Series
The Cowboys trail the all-time series against the Lobos 79-72 in a series that dates back to 1950. Wyoming is 42-27 against the Lobos in Laramie. UNM took the first contest this season by a score of 77-60 in The Pit.
