The combination of playing both football and track looks to be a good selling point for prospects to the Wyoming coaching staff. The speed of a track star can translate well to the football field including for recent UW offer Tyler Van Arden.

The Cowboys offered the 6-foot-1, 210 pound running back this week, where he stars on the gridiron and runs the 200 and 400 meters during the spring.

Van Arden, a 2019 prospect from Maria Carrillo High School via Santa Rosa (Cali.), now has six FBS offers including Wyoming, Fresno State, UTEP, Utah State, San Jose State and Hawaii.

"Thankful and excited to announce that I have received an offer from The University of Wyoming," Van Arden tweeted.

Maria Carrillo High uses the fullback similar to the Cowboys and likes to take control of the line of scrimmage with the power run game.

Van Arden rushed for 231 yards and three touchdowns on 23 carries during an early season game last fall against Redwood High School. The game was played in 90 plus degree heat.
