A 2020 prospect emerging in the Colorado high school ranks is offensive lineman Carver Willis, a 6-foot-5 and 260 pound player from Durango (Colo.). Two long-time rivals on both the college football field and recruiting road have offered him with Wyoming and Colorado State extending competing offers.

Willis has already been named to the 2018 1st Team All-Conference and Honorable Mention All-State Colorado as a junior performer and based on his dedication, he likely supersedes those honors in his final season this fall.

Along with being a good athlete playing both football and basketball at Durango High School, Willis brings a competitive nature and a desire to be the best he can on the gridiron.

"He is a natural leader and his teammates gravitate toward him," said Durango coach David Vogt. "Carver was already taking the lead in our workout program as just a freshman and loves playing the game and being the best he can."

Willis is already developing the strength to play at the next level registering 510 pounds in both squat and deadlift, and benching close to 300 pounds. A good athlete after being clocked at 4.72 in the forty-yard dash, a good time for a lineman.

"Carver is a strong kid with good size," said Vogt. "When you combine his strength and athleticism with his competitive drive, it should translate well to the college level."

Willis has already visited Wyoming on the weekend of March 29th and tripped to Colorado State in Fort Collins, and plans to return to Laramie for UW's Brown & Gold Game on April 27th.

"I am so grateful for an amazing visit to the University of Wyoming. Truly Laramie is a special place with such great people," tweeted Willis. "Thank you for the offer, as well as all the personal time. Can't wait to be back on the 27th."
