Looking at some of the season ending stats was very revealing.

To say that Coach Bohl is a conservative coach is an understatement.

Some of the season ending stats stood out to me. Kickoff and Punts stats in particular.

Punt returns:

Wyoming: Had a total of 5 punt returns the WHOLE season for a whopping 20 yards total.

Opponents: Returned Wyoming punts the whole season 23 times for 279 yards!

Kick-off returns:

Wyoming: Had a total of 12 kick-off returns the whole season for a total of 258 yards.

Opponents: Had a total of 26 kick-off returns against us for a total of 584 yards.

Our opponents outgained us 863 yards to 278 yards on punt and kick-off returns for the season.

Also, looking at some of the offensive stats wasn't a pretty sight.

Wyoming:

Rushing: 2,253 total yards for the season.

Passing: 1,533 total yards for the season.

Opponents:

Rushing: 1,794 total yards for the season.

Passing: 2,637 total yards for the season.

Our opponents out gained Wyoming by 1,104 more passing yards for the season, while we out gained our opponents by 459 yards rushing.

Our opponents out gained us by 645 yards offensively over the season. This means that Wyoming's opponents due to more productive offenses got a whole game and a half about of offense more than Wyoming over the season. That is a lot to overcome.

Coach Bohl I would argue will say, gee the defense didn't have a good season. While I would argue that our offense was not very productive in the passing attacking and kept the Wyoming defense on the field too long. Coach Bohl likes controlling the clock (we averaged a little less than 2 minutes per game less than our opponents for the whole season), we did not win the time of possession due largely to our poor passing game imo.

Coach Bohl is so conservative on punts and kick-offs, that our opponents outgained Wyoming by 585 yards in punts and kick-offs. Talk about field position. Evidently Coach Bohl is so concerned about fumbling that all he wants out there is someone who is sure handed and punts and kick-off returns for Wyoming is pretty well a non-existing item anymore.
