Wyoming basketball recruiting entered the late 2019 signing period looking to add a point guard and interior big to their 2019-20 roster. The Cowboys appeared to get one of their needs when Sacramento City College PG Gregory Milton III committed to coach Allen Edwards' program on Monday.

Edwards and assistant coach Jermaine Kimbrough visited Milton on March 25th and extended the scholarship offer to him as their top prospect at the point guard position.

Milton averaged 19 points and 4.9 rebounds per game this season as a freshman. He also averaged 3.4 assists per game, and hit 44.7 percent of his shots, including 40.2 percent from the three-point range.

The 6-foot-2 and 190 pound commit will have three years of eligibility at UW and hopes to shore up the lead guard position for the Pokes with his quickness and ability to score on all three levels.

The Juco prospect played in high school at Cosumnes Oaks in Elk Grove (Cali.) when he was recruited to Sacramento CC.

"Sac City freshman guard Gregory Milton III received an offer from Wyoming yesterday," noted SCC head coach Andrew Jones. "Hard work, talent, and attention in the classroom pay off. So happy for Greg."

Milton shows the ability to score offensively after registering a season high 39 points against West Valley and scored 37 points twice in a game this season. He scored 30 points or above in six games in 2018-19.

Earlier in the day, 6-foot-9 Cowboy freshman Trace Young said he would leave Wyoming and enter his name in the NCAA basketball's transfer portal, in turn, opening another scholarship up for Edwards' staff.

The Cowboys already have signed highly regarded Denver area Smoky Hill High School guard Kenny Foster to the 2019 class and have a verbal commitment from Denver East guard Kwane Marble.

With the Foster signing, Marble and Milton III committing, and current UW freshman Tariq Johnson unfortunately lost to medical issues, the UW staff has two more scholarships available for 2019.

“I’ve coached some pros, some Division I players, some NBA players and he’s as good as any of them,” Smoky Hill coach Anthony Hardin said of Foster. “He’s a super-competitive kid, a high-level athlete and what most people don’t know is, he’s in love with working on his body, his game, and is the hardest-working kid I’ve ever known.”

The Cowboys hope to land at least one interior player with the remaining scholarships and have offered 6-foot-10 and 245 pound Ethan Richardson
of Fresno City College. Richardson averaged 16.3 points and 7.4 rebounds per game his sophomore year in junior college, hitting 63.8 percent of his shots from the field.

The late signing period of basketball prospects is set for April 17th, where Milton and Marble are expected to ink their national-letter-of-intents and the Pokes could add more additions at the time.
