Wyoming to honor seniors before the contest

LAS VEGAS (March 2, 2022) – Wyoming close the regular season on Saturday at 2 p.m. hosting Fresno State. Wyoming will honor its three seniors prior to the game with Drake Jeffries, Hunter Thompson and Hunter Maldonado being honored, but all do have one more season of eligibility. The contest will be televised on Stadium and the MW Network.

About The Teams

The Pokes head into the contest on Saturday with a 23-7 overall record and a 12-5 mark in conference play and will be the fourth seed at next week’s MW Tournament. Wyoming is 13-1 at home this season. The Cowboys rank second in the conference in turnovers per game at 10.7 per game a number that ranks No. 33 in the nation. The Pokes lead the conference in defensive rebounds per game this season at 27.6 per game. Offensively, the Cowboys are shooting 46 percent from the field for third in the conference. Wyoming also leads the conference in free throws made with 437.



The Bulldogs sit at 8-8 in league play and are just one game behind UNLV for the five spot. Fresno State averages 65.2 points per game -- which is third-lowest in the conference -- however it only allows 58.1 points per contest, which ranks second in the league and third nationally. The Bulldogs connect of 44 percent of their field-goal attempts and 33.2 percent of their shots from 3-point land, while allowing foes to shoot 40.8 percent from the floor and 32 percent from deep.



About The Players

Wyoming is led by scoring this season by Graham Ike at 20.1 per game to rank second in the league and No. 21 in the nation. He also leads the team in rebounds at 9.7 per game for second in the MW and No. 20 in the nation. He is one of three players in the nation to average over 20 points per game and nine or more rebounds. Hunter Maldonado adds 19.0 points per game to rank fourth in the MW. He ranks second in the conference and ranks fifth in the nation with 6.3 assists per game. He recorded a triple-double against SDSU for the first one by a Cowboy since 2006 and became the single season assists leader with 184 against UNLV on Wednesday. Drake Jeffries adds 10.6 points per night and ranks No. 15 in the nation shooting 42 percent from behind the arc.



The Bulldogs are led by Orlando Robinson who pours in 18.7 points per game, which ranks fifth in the Mountain West Conference. He shoots 48.1 percent from the floor and 30.9 percent from beyond the 3-point arc, while also leading the team with 8.2 rebounds per game. Isaiah Hill represents the only other Bulldog in double figures at 10.3 points per contest. He also adds a team-best 3.1 assists per game. Anthony Holland chips in 9.5 points per contest.



About The Series

Fresno State leads the all-time series, 21-13, in a series that dates back to 1972. The Bulldogs have claimed wins in six of the last 10 meetings, however, Wyoming leads the all-time series in Laramie, 9-6.
