Cowboys Hit the Road for Contest at Utah Valley on Saturday

First meeting in Orem since 2012

LARAMIE, Wyo. (Dec. 10, 2020) The Wyoming Cowboys hit the road once again this time head to Utah Valley for a 2 p.m. start on Saturday in the UCCU Center. It will be the first trip to Orem for the Pokes since the 2012 season. The contest will be available on the WAC Digital Network.



Fans can listen to the contest as well as follow stats on GoWyo.com. The contest will be broadcast live on radio over the 26 affiliate stations of the Cowboy Sports Network, as Reece Monaco will have the call.



A Look at the Matchup

The Cowboys head into the game with a 4-1 overall record after defeating Denver 83-61 on Wednesday. Wyoming is averaging 84.8 points per game to rank third in the Mountain West Conference. Wyoming leads the conference in assists for the season with 81, a number that ranks No. 39 in the nation. The Pokes also lead the conference in fewest turnovers with 11 per game, which ranks No. 33 in the nation.



The Wolverines head into Saturday’s contest with a 2-2 overall record after falling to Southern Utah at home 81-71 on Wednesday. UVU owns wins over Adams State and Westminster on the season. Utah Valley scores 77.5 points per game and allows 77.3 per night. The Wolverines are shooting 48 percent from the field with opponents shooting 46 percent. UVU is forcing 16.3 turnovers per game.



Each Team’s Leaders

Wyoming is led in scoring by freshman Marcus Williams at 19.6 points per game. He ranks third amongst freshman in the nation in scoring. He also ranks third in the conference in scoring. Sophomore Kenny Foster adds 18.3 points per game shooting 69 percent from behind the arc this season. Junior Hunter Maldonado adds 12.6 points and leads the team in rebounds at 6.6 per game and assists at 6.4 per night. He leads the MW in assists and ranks No. 29 in the nation.



UVU is led in scoring by Jamison Overton at 19.7 points per game. He is shooting 64 percent from the field for the season. Trey Woodbury is adding 18 points per game for the season and is second on the team in rebounding at 4.8 per game and has a team-high 17 assists for the season. Fardaws Aimaq leads the team grabbing 14.5 rebounds per game for the season, which leads the nation.



About The Series

Wyoming owns a 3-1 lead in the all-time series against Utah Valley. Utah Valley took last season’s contest in Laramie by a score of 69-67. Wyoming is 1-0 all-time against the Wolverines in Orem.
