I thought of many fond memories of my trip to Seattle in 1987 to watch the Pokes play in the sweet 16.
The Rock Springs Cowboy Joe Club had made arrangements with Zanetti's bus lines to charter the trip. I heard about the trip on the radio and called Zanetti's and got the last two seats on the bus. My brother Burt drove over from Saratoga to Kemmerer the evening before, and we met the bus at Little America early Thursday morning.
We had to stop the bus in Ogden and Twin Falls to resupply the bar, and then stocked up again that night at Baker, Oregon, where we spent the night. There was one more stop for alcohol about three hours before we got to the King Dome in Seattle. The bus had to make about the same amount of resupply stops on the return trip as well. I have never seen so much booze disappear in one 5 day period The poker game in the back of the bus was very interesting, and I would hate to guess how much money exchanged hands over those 5 days.
My brother and I had a great time with these Sweetwater County folks, and this remains one of my fondest memories of my wonderful, departed younger brother and I supporting our beloved Wyoming Cowboys.
I am please to get to say one more time, during the NCAA tournament, "GO POKES"!
