Some interesting Wyoming ties here...

Duke 2000 and 2001 - Ended with the coach getting fired after 4 years and seven total wins.

Houston 2001 - Way to go Dana Dimel! Dimel fired after 8 wins in three years.

SMU 2003 - Phil Bennett was fired in 2007 after winning 19 games in six years.

UCF 2004 - THIS IS OUR IDEAL. They ended up winning a Conference USA title in 2010 and were ranked in the Top 25. IMPORTANT NOTE - In 2003, UCF's football budget was around $4 million. Today, their football budget is $19 million. If we want to be UCF the model is clear - bring in top notch coaches AND give them the resources they need.

2005 New Mexico State - They're still in the Bottom 10

2006 Duke - They don't care. Basketball wins national titles. Sounds pretty good to me.

2008 Washington - Willingham fired at the end of that year

2009 Eastern Michigan - Ron English fired mid-season in 2013

2012 Southern Miss - Coach Ellis Johnson only got those 12 games and was canned

2013 Georgia State - Was their first year in FBS. They are 2-15 since.

2013 Miam (OH) - Coach Don Treadwell fired mid-season after going 8-21 in two and a half years. Mike Bath (currently Wyoming's RB coach) took over as they lost their last 7 games.

So what's this have to do with us? I think it means we REALLY need to not go winless this year. The hole is just too deep - especially if we're not going to dramatically step up the budget as in the UCF model.
