Posts about Josh Allen not getting the coaching he needed while at Wyoming should probably recall Brian Hill's career too. The best RB in Cowboy history IMV--but one wonders what could have been had we thrown him the ball more. Just eight completions his senior year after falling off from between only 13 and 20 completions the previous two years. Perhaps nothing is more outrageous about Vigen's philosophy than throwing to Brian Hill only eight times in a year.
The 2017 NFL draft had a lot of big names--Leonard Fournette, Christian McCaffrey, Alvin Kamara, Dalvin Cook, Marlon Mack, Kareem Hunt, James Connor--most of these guys except for Fournette and Connor caught a lot of balls in college (or more than BH did anyway) and it's $$$$$$ off for them now.
After five seasons, BH just finished his best year as a pro; 30 targets with 25 catches for 199 yards, plus 465 yards rushing. Atlanta's rushing game has been weak to mediocre for a few years now, and both Todd Gurley and Hill are free agents. Yesterday's game almost seemed like a tryout for next year, and he had a solid game including a 62 yd. run he probably should have scored on, but also had a fumble.
His ceiling seems to be as a complimentary back. This year the Falcons gave him more opportunity, but they've now had two looks at him, they draft 4th (which could be spun off for picks ), they need to upgrade at RB, they just canned their head coach and GM.....and they are approximately $45 million over the projected cap space of 2021. They're going to be doing some serious roster smashing/rebuilding. Can't see them giving Gurley another $6mil and Hill made $2.1mil this past season. Hopefully they'll bring him back (at a likely discount though) or he can catch on with somebody...would have been interesting to see what his value would be had he more experience catching the ball in college.
