Honest question: What value does a UW football ticket have ? For as little as $27, you could buy a knothole ticket to today's travesty. For $51, you could have a "Priority Gold" ticket, which is just another way of saying "the full screwing without the kiss." Put aside the costs and justifications for such prices for a moment--I understand why tickets cost what they do and don't have a problem with it. What do people really get for their football dollar? I don't want to have a discussion about the economics of FBS football. What do fans truly get for their money at UW? Isn't there some obligation on behalf of the ticket seller to provide the buyer with at least a decent experience? They aren't obligated to guarantee wins. But what did the fan who bought the Priority Gold ticket get today that was more than the guy who picked up a knothole ticket? Is it a prideful feeling that they're supporting their school? A sunburn? Is it the hope that one day--one day--you can say, "I was there when we struggled"? Maybe it's "I'm a Poke fan through thick and thin, and it doesn't matter if we win or not." That's about all I can think of. Brian Hill is fun to watch, but for the last 25 years, the value of a Wyoming football ticket has only occasionally been worth the price paid for it. It's a bad joke that keeps being played on UW fans, and we're stuck in a never-ending cycle of suck.
Is it more money? Maybe, but I don't trust the people running the company to spend it right. FCS? Uh...we aren't competing on that level either. But let's give Bohl another extension at the end of the year. Or build another f*cking building to gain a competitive edge over programs like Eastern Michigan. Or a ticket increase. Or TV's in the restrooms so we don't miss any exciting moments. Or maybe even easier schedules so we can con people into thinking we're really good.
How can a University, a state legislature, or it's fans allow people to go nearly all of their lives without any kind of real success?
