While college football coaches are contacting him with regularity, the mind of Cheyenne (Wyo.) East junior quarterback Tevis Bartlett mind isn't anywhere close to the football field. Rather, he is ramping up for a big weekend on the wrestling mat.

The 6-foot-4, 210-pound Bartlett will wrestle at the National High School Wrestling Championships in Virginia Beach March 28-30. Bartlett is a three-time state champion in Wyoming, posting a 46-0 record last year and a 138-5 career mark. While he is a tremendous football player, there is the question about what sport Bartlett wants to play in college. He said it is one he has given some thought to.

"I haven't fully decided yet," Bartlett said. "I could do both. I'd like to play football and go from there to figure out if I could wrestle too."

Bartlett's football resume is quickly becoming just as impressive as his wrestling accomplishments. As a quarterback, Bartlett accounted for just shy of 3,000 total yards, running for 1400 yards and 19 touchdowns, and passed for 1,521 yards and 13 touchdowns. Defensively, Bartlett also shined, garnering 57 solo tackles, 30 assists, and two fumble recoveries.

"As a quarterback I would say I was 60/40 run/pass last year," Bartlett said.

Bartlett said he currently holds scholarship offers from Wyoming, Colorado and Colorado State. Iowa has been in contact with Bartlett since his sophomore year and Eastern Michigan is also interested in speaking with the quarterback. Thus far, Bartlett said he has no favorites. He said until he is able to get out and visit campuses that will likely remain the case.

"Wyoming and Colorado have talked to me about coming in as a quarterback and then maybe being an athlete if that didn't work out," Bartlett said. "If that is what they want me to do, then I'll do whatever they need me to. Iowa and Eastern Michigan are thinking maybe safety or linebacker."

Bartlett said he and his father and discussed what he wants in a school and said they want a strong educational opportunity. They are also looking for a school that is either competitive in their conference or will be competitive soon. Finally, he said the opportunity has to be pretty impressive for him to look far from home.

Thus far Bartlett has been in contact with the new coaching staff at Wyoming.

"About three or four weeks ago I sat down with Coach Bohl and talked to he and his staff," Bartlett said. "I can't help but say good things about the staff and what they are trying to do in general."

Bartlett said he hopes to have his list of choices narrowed down to five by this summer and hopes to make a final decision on college after his senior year of football.
