The upcoming game against University of Arkansas-Pine Bluffs could be a good early season barometer for the Pokes.
Arkansas-Pine Bluffs played Creighton in Omaha the other night and lost, but played very respectfully, 90-77 was the final score. Before we see UAPB this weekend, they play Friday night at Moby HS gym in Fort Collins against CSU.
From reading the story about the Creighton game, UAPB has a pretty good big, Trey Sampson a 6-9 Jr. scored 29 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Their top rebounder was Brandon Brown, a 6-5 Jr. who pulled down 14 rebounds and their outside threat is a Shawn Williams, a 6-1 Sr. who had 16 points, (12 of which came from the 3 point line). So UAPB will be a different type of squad that will be coming into the AA in relation to Detroit Mercy.
I hope that the crowd for the UAPB game is a good one, especially the students who I hope will make a lot of noise. All of the fans in the SE Corner of the state should be turning out.
