It seems that despite holding a 2nd place position in the conference, coming off our biggest single half performance of the season, going 2-2 with our star player out, and getting him back just in time for the critical stretch run into the tournament, we are being completely written off as a contender for both the NCAA tourney and even our own conference tournament.
There is thread on the MWC board on the tourney, and the consensus seems to be that SDSU, BSU, UNLV and CSU are the contenders. Nevermind the Pokes are 4-2 against those teams, and excluding SDSU, they are 4-0 against the other three.
Geez, our coach isn't even discussed as a COY candidate despite the fact that we are very likely to finish well ahead of where the preseason poll had us ranked and chances are better than not that we will hold onto the 2nd place position when the season concludes in 2 weeks.
I think we've got them right where we want them...I hope there is sizable chip forming on the shoulders of our players and coaches. Let's make them all eat crow Cowboys!
