Watched the Memphis vs. Cinn shootout last night on ESPN. Heck of game, and completely more entertaining than the NFL Thursday night drool inducing product, trotted out as football, on CBS; but I digress. With the win, Memphis improved to 4-0 on the year and winner of 11 straight games. Memphis coach Justin Fuentes is in his fourth year at Memphis, which is his first head coaching gig. In his first year, Fuentes went 4-8; second year 3-9; and third year 10-3 and now currently undefeated and looking to move into the Top 25. Prior the hiring of Fuentes, the Tigers went 3-21 under the previous coach, and from 2001-2009 they were a collective 49-61.

As lot of posters have stated, it's not unusual to see a step-back in win/loss record the second year of the new coaching staff's tenure, as player attrition hits harder the second than the first year. So, will we see the marked jump in improvement that Memphis had, or is the Cowboys' rebuild that more difficult? Memphis wasn't as bad overall as we have been and it's easier to get players into Memphis than UW.
