Sometimes I think Wyoming has the worst fanbase in America

The Shyatt staff comes in after an absolute disaster and basically wins 20 games every year. We become ranked in the Top 25 briefly in Year 2 of his return. We do it again in Year 4. If not for some insanely unfortunate injuries and felonies we probably are looking at our third NCAA berth this season.

Yet it wasn't until this year that we got one crowd - just 1! - over 10k. We barely got a couple crowds over 8k. After the loss at Utah State the bitching around Cheyenne and online was unreal. The offense sucked. We couldn't figure out the zone. It shouldn't be like this in Year 4. Blah, blah, blah...

Now it's even worse. We're no good without Nance. No one else on the team would start anywhere else. Bullshit, bullshit, bullshit...

Have we had some magical run of success in the last 13 years that I missed and that has made us all spoiled to the point that a team has to be in the AP Top 10 to sell out the Arena? Was it fun? Wish I had been there for all those good years since 2002.

Goddamn. We have what is likely the best coach Wyoming will EVER have running the basketball program. Best in character, best in bench decisions, best in assistant staff and best in recruiting. For a program like Wyoming, this staff is a perfect storm of good things. If you can't see that with your own two eyes, and appreciate that they're human and therefore short of perfection, I don't know that you can be helped.

Yes, our depth is limited. But big men don't grow on trees, and you can't just go pluck a good one out of some juco. That's not how it worked with Leckner, Ratliff or Nance. Bigs have to be developed.

Yes, we lost a few. But I would wager that our attrition rate is lower than most in the midst of this transfer culture in college basketball.

With Nance gone do we lose our mojo? Yes. Without him are we almost certainly not going to win the regular season title? Probably so. But with him are we one of the deadlier tournament teams we've seen in a long time? Absolutely.

People around here sometimes wouldn't know a good thing if it bit them in the ass. This team, at full strength, is the best in the conference and one of the 20 best in the country. If people can't get behind that, and apparently a lot of folks can't, maybe they ought to just stay at home and dick around on Facebook or Pinterest some more.

Even those worthless shits in Ft. Collins sell out a stadium when their teams get good. Any real fan should be at the Arena on Saturday to watch a bunch of kids with WYOMING on their chests play - kids who a week ago were LEADING THE CONFERENCE. Instead I'm afraid we'll see another crowd in the low 6,000s filled with a bunch of farmers who sit on their hands and students who would rather stay in their dorms and play Mario Kart. BALLS TO THAT!

I'm too mad about this to post coherently. I'm going to go sit outside, have a cold beer, and think dark thoughts.
