since we are over basketball already.
January 16, started an open period for football recruiting. We only have 6 scholarships left for this year. Obviously there are no WRs and only one CB and one LB signed earlier so we need some of those, and then, maybe , the best players Bohl and company can find.
Linebacker Sebastian Harsh of Scottsbluff, is still uncommitted, and was following the Pokes while they were in Tucson at the Arizona Bowl. That's a good sign, and only smaller area colleges have offered him recently. I'm not sure about his grades/test scores, and seem to have read that it might be that reason he hasn't made a choice on where to go.
Scottsbluff rode him to a state championship this past year, I believe, and was recently named to a all decade team in high school football in Nebraska. Seems to be one hell of a player. Sure would like to see him in Laramie.
Wide Receiver Joshua Cobbs seems to be a target for the Pokes still. On twitter he has been fairly quiet other than trying to drum up more interest for himself. Wyoming is the highest level school recruiting him and he visited just before the early signing date. He is also the only WR that I know of that Wyo was recruiting that didn't sign on the early date.
Even though he hasn't gotten offers from high level schools he does seem to an excellent athlete with great size (6'4" 210 lbs). He was all conference and the MVP of a football camp in the San Antonio area.
Chicago area CB Chau Smith was set to sign with the Pokes on the early signing date but at the last second, both Washington State and Purdue offered him. He didn't sign but has stated that Wyoming is still very much in the picture. He also still has his photo in a wyoming jersey on his Twitter account. With Mike Leach leaving Washington St. and then Purdue canceling his visit to their school it is possible that the Pokes still have a fighting chance to sign him.
Unfortunately one other recruit Wyo was pursuing, LeShaun Bell, committed to UNLV in the past 24 hrs or so. He was a DE, that was also being recruited by Arizona St, Oregon St, and Fresno St.
Kindre Miller is a nice sized RB out of Texas that the Pokes have been in touch with. He isn't highly recruited, with many of the schools recruiting him being the same as Joshua Cobbs. At 6'0" 210 lbs he would be a bigger back but I haven't seen much information on his speed or athletic ability.
Wyoming has recently offered another linebacker, but I don't remember his name right now. ( I know it's in the threads below, but I'm being lazy). I wondered if he was a back up plan if it didn't work out with Harsh.
I have recently been wondering if a juco WR or CB or even a transfer might be in the cards this year...
That's all the names I have... if anyone has more please add them.... recruiting will have to be my fix of UW sports until spring ball because other things are.... well you know
