A strongman from Seattle is beginning to see his recruiting stock rise this summer. O'Dea High School defensive tackle scholarships from Northern Arizona and Idaho, but they are unlikely to be the only offers that comes his way before next February.

McDade claims an impressive resume. The 6-foot-3, 300-pounder said he was the Metro League MVP among it's defensive linemen. He was also named First Team All-League and All-State, as well as Second Team All-State, All-Class.

"I have great strength and my ability to get off the ball has improved this off-season too," McDade said when asked for his strengths. "I have a lot of explosion off the ball."

McDade said he bench presses 365 pounds and squats 550 in his young career. While Idaho and Northern Arizona have offered scholarships, there are several other schools McDade said he is talking to currently. They include Boise State, Colorado State, Eastern Washington, Purdue, Oregon, Washington, Michigan and Wyoming. McDade said his conversations with Wyoming are heating up.

"I've talked to them a lot," McDade said Thursday. "They told me I am one of their top guys on defense and one of the top guys at my defensive position. They seem to like me a lot. They wanted me to come to one of their camps, but I couldn't make it."

McDade said his primary contact with the Wyoming program is Nick Danielson, the Cowboys' tight ends coach. McDade said the Cowboys are certainly in the mix, along with the other schools who have offered him a scholarship. Thus far he says he has no favorites.

"I want to decide sometime after next season," McDade said. "I want to take my time and see what scholarship offers I can get to come in before I make my decision."
