Despite rainstorms of biblical proportions, Cherry Creek safety Jaeden Graham was able to make the drive from Denver to Laramie on Saturday for an unofficial visit to the University of Wyoming. It was a trip that Graham admitted wasn't finalized until Saturday morning, due to a storm that canceled Colorado's scheduled contest with Fresno State.
"We were looking online Friday and with all of the road closures in Colorado and Wyoming, we weren't sure we would made it up there," Graham said. "Saturday the roads were just fine and we didn't have any trouble getting to Wyoming."
Graham is a 6-foot-4, 215-pound safety from Aurora (Colo.) who holds scholarship offers from Wyoming, Northern Colorado, UTEP, New Mexico State, Yale, and Columbia. He reports he is also hearing from Boise State, Washington, Harvard, Missouri, and attended a game at Colorado last weekend.
This weekend, his focus was the Wyoming Cowboys. Graham brought his parents and two brothers to campus Saturday to let the family see what he had already seen on a previous visit to Wyoming.
"I thought it was great," Graham said. "We got up there about 11:30 and showed my mom and my brothers the campus and then met Coach Robinson at the stadium and toured the athletic facilities.
"Then, we got to watch the game. It was really a great gameday experience," Graham continued. "It was a big deal to everyone there and that was really cool. I thought it was awesome. There was a great band, a great crowd and a great game."
Graham said after the game he spent some time with Wyoming wideout and friend Tanner Gentry before his family met the coaches and left for Denver. After the visit Graham said he has plans to take an official visit to Yale in December, but has otherwise not made any other recruiting plans, preferring to concentrate on his high school season.
While he doesn't have a top five, Graham said Wyoming has cemented itself as one of his favorites.
"They are one of my top schools," Graham said. "I don't really have a favorite yet or a list but they are one of my top schools. I think they have a great program and great coaches."
Graham has a rare two-game week this week as Creek's game scheduled for last Thursday was postponed by storms. As a result, Cherry Creek Creek will take on Douglas County tonight and Denver East on Friday.
