Did you guys read this article? Again, UW Athletics are the "evil ones" because of the $8 million in matching funds while K-12 funding was cut by $45 million over two years. Sounds bad but what was the K-12 budget cut by percentage? Was it 20%? Would have been a nice tidbit to add by Mr. Holmgren.
On Facebook, this article is generating a bunch of comments that portray UW Athletics in a very bad light. Yes, it is tough to say that a low income family literacy program should be cut and the UW Athletics funding matching program stays. But again, how effective has this literacy program been? What other programs are still funded that serve in the same vein? I understand that Ryan Holmgren has a job to do and sell more papers, but isn't this like biting the hand that feeds you?
