Taking into account the sport, UW funding, other funding, coaching, conference competition, national competition, recruiting ability, facilities, etc., what UW athletic team is continually the most disappointing? Let's rank the 3 main men's teams: football, basketball, and wrestling and the 3 main women's teams: basketball, volleyball, and soccer. This season alone we've been subjected to a 3-9 football season, a 4-6-9 (2-3-6 in conference) soccer team, volleyball at 17-13 (7-11 conference), a rebuilding men's basketball team, a 4-5 women's basketball team with the MW preseason player of the year, and a 2-2 (0-2 conference) wrestling team.
My ranking from most to least disappointing
1. Women's basketball - this program should be much better than where it is. Still living off that WNIT championship that was 17 years ago
2. Football - what haven't we said
3. Men's basketball - years of neglect by the AD; if men's basketball was a child, CPS would have been called.
4. Wrestling - a paper tiger
5. Volleyball - this program can't seem to get out of its own way. I remember when I was at UW, Mike English has this program rolling
6. Soccer - not a sport that has strong high school teams or support across the state or campus. Soccer is still a niche sport
