In an initial look at the QB position for next season, these are the options currently available to the Pokes:
Jayden Clemons 6-1 208 Jr. Lehi, Utah
Hank Gibbs 6-5 226 So. Fayetteville, Arkansas
Gavin Beerup 6-5 201 So. Camarillo, California
Caden Becker 6-4 220 Fr. Omaha, Nebraska
and
??????? (the unknown QB from who knows where) ??????
Of the four QB's we know about so far, just a cursory look shows you that Clemons would be the odd one on this list. He doesn't fit the mould of generally what we have seen from Bohl over the years. Clemons appears to be more of an Option Type of QB, than a typical Pro Style QB. I know that he showed some good things in last years Spring game, but we haven't seen anything from him since then.
My favorite of this group would have to be Hank Gibbs. While we haven't seen much of him, the little of what we have seen, I have liked his throwing motion the best and he has earned a scholarship from being a W/O.
Some on this board like Gavin Beerup, but I have to think that it has more to do with his name than anything else. Literally I have seen nothing of this young man and someone earlier said that he ended up the year injured.
How good is Caden Becker??? He certainly fits the mould, big kid, that runs well and has a lively arm. But there is a lot that a HS QB has to learn to be a No. 1 QB at Wyoming, is he that type of QB??? I guess we will have to see.
Then there is the 900 lb. gorilla in the room. The new QB that Bohl and his staff will be bringing in from the portal or JC???? Will he be good enough that we will immediately forget about the 4 guys already on the roster, or will he just be a guy that has potential but will have to really battle it out with the 4 guys now on the roster for playing time? I understand that no matter who the coaches bring in he will have to earn the position, but some guys could just know that they were #1 before they ever set one foot on the campus.
