PS. Don’t know if you watched the Boise game as maybe you were still reveling over the UVU Bball victory. It was a good ball game and I hope are getting a money plan in place to keep Coach Linder and staff. Contract extensions with bonuses or however it’s done.
The football game was nowhere near what the scoreboard indicated. Defense played the best they could considering they were always next eleven up as the offense couldn’t stay on the field. I do think that with a just a bit of positive offensive consistency that the Cowboys could have won that game. At least put the new BMOC in a position to knock a couple more thru the uprights. The offense was pathetic. You notice?
Speaking of bonuses and contract extensions, I just recently became aware that the OC/Assistant Head Coach will get a $50 K bonus if he is still employed at the end of January. Really? Is that true? What knucklehead wrote up that contract?
Coach Bohl’s end of the season presser suggested that all the staff will get a stern talking to and lined out on how things are going to be done in the 2021…which is now by the way. Did you know that? Coach Bohl also indicated that those stern talking tos were going to be done soon, and therefore, I am assuming before the end of January.
My Grandpa used to call those kind of sit downs ‘how the cow ate the cabbage’. I think that means to tell someone how it is, or how it is going to be. In particular, if they don’t want to hear it. Personally, I doubt anything will change in the relationship or delegation of duties between Head Coach and OC.
That being the case, and with the athletic budget going in the red (just how much?) this year, you don’t have a spare 50 grand to give away. Not your money. It belongs to the fair citizens of the State. The State is broke to the tune of a couple of billion dollars and I sincerely hope that someone with some nuts and brains puts the kybosh to that bonus deal. UW has a whole building full of lawyers or would be lawyers on campus. Certainly it can get done.
I think you probably know about the insanity definition. If you were to give the OC 50 grand, it would be just not insane, but immoral. Truly sick.
Oh, you need just cause to void the contract? How about ‘cause he ain’t no friggin good. Is that cause enough? Are there not performance stipulations in the contract? The data that supports the lack of offense performance for the last several seasons is sufficient.
Immoral(ity) is defined as not conforming to accepted standards of morality. Huh? How about this. In other words, we could say, ‘If the OC gets 50 grand, that would be immoral. If the OC gets 50 grand that would be bad, or be dark, or be evil, or be nefarious, or be rotten, or be sinful, or be unethical, or be unlawful, or be unrighteous, or be unsavory, or be vicious, or be vile, or be villainous, or be wicked….or be (this is the one I like most) WRONG’! Just plain wrong. Shamefully wrong.
In your many years at UW, you have spearheaded many great and wonderful things for the athletic programs and students and fans and citizens of the fair State. For the moment, I’ll forget about your buddy from Portland.
Some would even say your efforts at UW have been good, ethical, honest, honorable, just and maybe even moral. Your seat on the playoff selection committee is testament to your ranking among your peers.
You might be feeling a little bit of head swell about now. But Tom, you have the opportunity to embellish any positive reputation you may have garnered. Or not.
Go Pokes. Down a different road.
