Should have won by 10 or more. First off, let me say I'm a semi-passive Cowboy hoops fan. This is a program that UW has purposefully let lapse, and only through accidental competence(hiring Linder) allowed us to be competitive. I will never believe Birman actually was the one who hired Linder. Can't convince me. Enjoy this team NOW because Linder and Ike and maybe a few others leave at the end of the year. Poke fans should enjoy this while they can because it's likely all going to reset in another three months to a program BIrman is more comfortable administering, which means some bull$hit like Jeremy Shyatt Jr. the III coming in to take over the reins...
Graham Ike is a special player. I'd like to see him enroll in a month-long seminar with Reggie Slater to round out his game so that he can back down guys to the hole and finish them off. Kid could have had 39 instead of 29 against whitey white-stiff that played for about six minutes and that other cat . Going to be frustrating seeing him playing for CU or somebody else next year, so get out and enjoy this kid while you can.
Pokes need to be a smidge tighter on defense. UNM shot as well as they did because we played defense like an NBA team. Typical Linder approach, can't be too critical because we got guys who can pull it off, but this attitude on D will be our ultimate demise. We have enough weapons on O to game a lot of programs, but we are missing physicality and a point who can push the pace. Sure wish we had another big guy and a J-Straight-type point guard. Good to see the Pokes be good and competitive again.
