Pokes in the Pros: Week 1
LARAMIE, Wyoming (9/10/24) – The National Football League season got underway this past week. Plenty of former University of Wyoming football players made an impact for their respective professional organizations.
Josh Allen led the way for the former Cowboys. He helped the Buffalo Bills rally from a two-score deficit to a 34-28 victory over Arizona.
Allen was ultra efficient. He finished the game 18-for-23 for 232 yards and two touchdowns. He added 39 yards on nine carries and another two scores.
Below is a list of the other former Wyoming student-athletes and how they did in Week 1.
Carl Granderson, New Orleans Saints
Granderson and the Saints destroyed Carolina on Sunday. He made three tackles from his defensive end position in New Orleans’ 47-10 victory. Dating back to last season, Granderson has now boasted at least three tackles in 16 of his last 17 games played.
Logan Wilson, Cincinnati Bengals
Wilson and the Bengals fell to New England, 16-10, on Sunday. He piled up a game-high 13 tackles from his linebacker position, which included one tackle for loss and three quarterback hits. That ties Wilson for fourth in the league after one week of action.
Marcus Epps, Las Vegas Raiders
Epps and the Raiders dropped a 22-10 decision at the Los Angeles Rams. He tied for second on the team with five tackles from his safety position. Dating back to last season, that’s now three straight games played with multiple tackles.
Chad Muma, Jacksonville Jaguars
Muma and Jacksonville narrowly lost at Miami, 20-17, on Sunday. He registered two tackles from his linebacker position. It was the first time since Nov. 12 of last year that Muma recorded a stat.
Andrew Wingard, Jacksonville Jaguars
Wingard did not play due to an injury in Jacksonville’s 20-17 loss at Miami on Sunday.
Tashaun Gipson, Jacksonville Jaguars
Gipson did not play due to a suspension in Jacksonville’s 20-17 loss at Miami on Sunday.
Frank Crum, Denver Broncos
Crum was inactive for Denver in the Broncos, 26-20, loss at Seattle.
Treyton Welch, New Orleans Saints
Welch is currently participating on the Saints’ practice squad. New Orleans defeated Carolina, 47-10, on Sunday.
