Parker (Colo.) athlete scholarship offer last week, as the San Diego State Aztecs called offering him the free ride. The 6-foot, 170-pound Spradling adds the offer to one from the Northern Colorado Bears.
Last season Spradling led his Ponderosa team to an 11-1 record behind 1,675 total yards and 16 touchdowns. Spradling said for his efforts he was named First Team All-Conference at running back and wide receiver as well.
He was honorable mention as a defensive back. He was also named Honorable Mention All-State as a utility player.
Spradling said most schools are asking him to play slot receiver, a part he said he looks forward to doing.
"I think I just make plays," Spradling said. "I have speed that not a lot of high schoolers have. I think I have good vision too, but the big thing is, I just make plays."
This summer, Spradling has camped at Colorado, Northern Colorado, UNLV and San Diego State. He said his offer from SDSU came shortly after their camp and the one he was excited to hear about.
"I was really excited," Spradling said. "San Diego State was one of my favorite schools going into the recruiting process. They are in San Diego, obviously, they won the Mountain West Conference last year. It was just a great feeling to get that call."
Spradling said he has also been in some contact with the Wyoming Cowboy football team. He said Wyoming assistant coach Jim Harding visited with him last school year and invited him to Junior Day in Laramie, which he attended. He said he toured the campus and liked the facilities, specifically the locker room.
"Now I am hearing from Coach (Derek) Sage and Danilo Robinson about once a week. They are telling me that I am on their board. They said they cutting down who is on their board and I should know soon where I stand, whether that is an offer, or whether I am a possible early senior year offer or if I am not in their plans."
Spradling said his recruiting plan is to wait through the summer and make a commitment either before or early in his senior season. Hs said he has no favorites as yet, but might wait a little longer into his senior year if he isn't satisfied with the number or quality of offers he has received.
