Wyoming's football team dropped into Nebraska to pull out two members of its 2015 recruiting class last year and by all indications it will be doing so again for the Class of 2016. This weekend Wyoming will host Corey Hoelck, a 6-3, 250-pound lineman from Giltner.

"They (Wyoming) really like his film, and what he does on the field," said Hoelck's coach Jeff Ashby. "He stays on blocks for a long time. He is pretty good at staying on his block until the play is over. They like his size, they like his footspeed. They had a coach stop by last week or the week before to check him out."

Ashby said Hoelck is talking to Wyoming, but has camped at Iowa and plans to again next summer. Ashby said he also expects Hoelck to camp at Nebraska, Kansas State and Wyoming this summer.

As a sophomore, Hoelck was named All-State and was an honorable mention All-Stater again last season for a 7-3 Giltner program which was its losses come to a state runner-up, state champion, and a state quarterfinalist. Hoelck plays at a high school that sent defensive end Drew Ott to Iowa and has two walk-on linemen at Nebraska currently. Ashby said he believes seeing those examples has helped Hoelck to be a harder worker in the weight room.

"He is a very good technician," Ashby said of Hoelck. "He is kind of a late bloomer. He is getting bigger, he has gotten taller. I think we measured him at 6-3 and ¾ the other day. He is a little over 250. He is getting bigger, works hard in the weight room. He has had some good examples ahead of him."

Ashby said Hoelck has played offensive line for Giltner, but he will likely see time at tight end this year. Ashby said he isn't sure exactly what position Hoelck will play in college. He said Hoelck is looking forward to seeing Laramie, but not until after a basketball game this evening. He said he expects the Hoelck family will head out around 4 a.m. tomorrow to get to Laramie for the Junior Day.

"He is interested," Ashby said. "Any time someone stops by and asks if you want to play football you are interested. It is right on Interstate 80 and about five hours away, so it doesn't take long to get there. I think he is looking for somewhere close where his parents can make it to see him play. That is kind of important to him."
