Adam Higuera’s recruitment is different than most of the players who will be visiting Laramie this fall. Higuera is a 6-foot-2, 235-pounder specializing in long snapping and has come down a much different road than most recruits.

“For me, it started in eighth grade,” he said. “I started snapping then. I have a brother who snapped for Tulsa, which helped send him to college. I started working with coach Ben Bernard of Phoenix, going to camps where they rank you and help you get your film out to coaches and then going to Kohl’s series and got in front of coaches.”

The Kohl's camps have him rated as the sixth best long snapper in the Recruiting Class of 2017. Higuera’s now holds scholarship offers from Wyoming, Army, New Mexico State, and Arizona.

“He scored on 10 of his 12 snaps and put 7 of those through the target,” said his bio in the Kohl’s Camp circuit. “During the Underclassmen Challenge, Adam had an average snap time of .66 seconds. He is explosive and continues to show great ball rotation. Adam still has a ton of potential and has the ability to compete with anyone in the country.”

This weekend Higuera will be in Laramie to check out the University of Wyoming.

“Wyoming has a guy named Brendan Turelli who has the same long snapping coach that I do and he will be a college senior,” Higuera said. “I grew up in Gilbert, Arizona, which is out in the middle of the fields. There isn’t a lot here. There are also simple people - and I mean that in the best possible way - and I think I could find a lot of those same things in Wyoming.”

Higuera said he hopes to use this weekend to get to know the state and the college, as well as check out what he understands is a high level of support the Wyoming Cowboys receive from the state’s fans.

He added that he expects to take all of his visits before making a decision and plans to visit Tulsa, Army, and possibly New Mexico State before making a decision. He says he has no favorites, but does like the recruiting job Wyoming is doing.

“I have to take all of my visits first before I make a decision, but the treatment from Wyoming has been unlike any other” said Higuera.
