Longmont (Colo.) defensive tackle Levi Cecil is still waiting for his first scholarship offer, but that doesn't mean he isn't on the radar of college coaches. Cecil's name is very familiar with college coaches along the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains. The fact Cecil doesn't have any scholarship offers also isn't a huge concern to the 6-foot-4, 270-pounder.

"All the schools I have talked to want to see me camp to workout a little bit. That's fine. I like to earn my scholarship, so I'll go to the camps and earn them," Cecil said.

Cecil's camp schedule for the summer will include trips to Wyoming, Colorado, Colorado State, Northern Colorado, Boston College and Stanford. He said he and his high school teammate, Isaac Miller, are considering the Stanford camp.

Cecil is an All-State and All-Region performer for the Silver Creek Raptors, which won the Colorado Class 3A state title a year ago. Along the way, he accounted for 85 tackles and three sacks.

"I think I get off the ball well," Cecil said. "I do a good job of extending the offensive line and taking on blockers so my backers are free to make plays."

That playmaking ability has caught the eye of Colorado, South Dakota State, Harvard, Florida Atlantic, Colorado State and Wyoming. It was Wyoming that hosted Cecil for the spring game two weeks ago. It was Cecil's second time visiting Laramie, with the first coming in February at the Wyoming Junior Day.

"We met in the (Wildcatter) suites on Saturday above the stadium and talked to the coaches a little bit," Cecil said "Then we got separated into groups and took a tour of the school. We went to the business building. It was really nice and it sound like they have a top business program there. We had lunch, talked to the coaches a little more and we went down and watched them warm up on the field. One of the coaches took me aside and I got to talk to Coach Christensen. He said they like my film, they like my physicalness and how I get off the ball. They want to see me do some drills in camp this summer."

Cecil said he will show the Cowboys his skills during a June 8th camp in Laramie. Cecil said he was impressed with the facilities, War Memorial Stadium as well as the support he saw in the community.

"I really like it," Cecil said of Wyoming. "The town is like an entire town that supports Wyoming. It is a true college town. I like the school, the facilities are some of the nicest in the country. The coaches work with you well and they are competitive. They always work hard and play hard."

When asked about other schools he is looking at, Cecil said he is impressed by the fan base and community of Boulder and the Colorado Buffaloes and thinks Colorado State's new coaching staff has bright days ahead. He said he has also visited Northern Colorado and likes their facilities and players.
