A state senator from Baggs today brought an amendment to the budget to require a "study" to look at the potential savings to drop athletics at UW down to Division II. The amendment drew so little support that it didn't even get a second to be heard. Literally no other senator would speak for it, and when the sponsor withdrew it the Senate broke out in applause.
