for all the smaller schools. A buddy of mine from Gillette had UW recruiting his kid with a scholarship to Wyoming before the NCAA gave everyone an extra year due to Covid. When all of a sudden they quit hearing from his recruiter out of the blue. They eventually called to see what was up and was told they had no scholarships to give due to most everyone staying an extra year.
His kid ends up taking a scholarship to Black Hills State to help pay for school. He told me that BHS was getting recruits from all over the place because so many kids were left out in the cold and a lot of them had FBS scholarships offered before Covid hit. So basically it sounds like most schools that are smaller are going to have an influx of really good talent coming in this year from what they usually get.
Anyone else hearing stories on these kinds of things? I wonder how long it will take to even out so scholarships will get back to normal, whatever normal was. And with the Portal for transfers going on, will it take even longer, and will the NCAA have to step in eventually and figure out how to calm the waters so things will go back the way they were, pre-covid. I had not really thought all of this out before. I also wonder if known schools like North Dakota State who get some kids to the pros will get even stronger?
