its just a few more days to go for the kick off and I am not sure I can focus this week! So a topic for discussion given all the authority we have on this board!
It would appear that in the future the MWC could certainly get raided with several teams getting snatched: I am thinking maybe two and possibly three. I am surprise that AFA is not mentioned more often, but they could be in some equation, if the Denver market was being looked at with taking both CSU and AFA plus throwing in Ft. Collins and Co Springs with the Denver area. I am not a big fan of the Idaho schools, but one of them could be added, would make some sense to tie into the natural rivalry for UW and help expand the fan base in Wyoming with the NW area of Wyoming. UTEP, New Mexico State just don't do it for me. South Dakota and South Dakota State, not sure if So Dakota has that commitment, but I am not sure. Other than basketball, I never thought UTEP did much for the WAC. Of course, I would prefer that when the P5 gets too big for themselves that they dish off teams like K State, Iowa State, Indiana, Vandy and several others and somehow how UW hooks on with a reconstituted P6 and P7 leagues and maybe a play in P8 league.
But here goes as fills in for the MWC. My top 3 :
1. TEXAS STATE: I like the lack of a divisional school name .FWTIW. Texas recruiting for the MWC and certainly Texas has the appetite for getting bigger. They were right on to grab the State name to add to Texas name for their school!
Stadium Info: Capacity: 30,000 Built: 1981 (Renovated 2012) Playing Surface: Field Turf
Suites: Legacy Suite (15)
Premium Seating: Champions Club (450)
2. MONTANA: Seems like a logical tie into the Mountain and the West. Natural rivalry for Wyo and might increase the connection of those distance challenged fans in northern Wyoming with Laramie.
Stadium Info: The recent expansion provided 375 Grizzly Scholarship Association priority seats, which are located between the 25-and-40-yard lines and on both sides of the 50-yard line, as well as 1,150 non-priority seats located on the 10-to-25-yard lines. This expansion increased the current seating capacity of Washington- Grizzly Stadium to 25,217. They certainly have the area to get to 30,000.
3. No Brainer: NDSU
Stadium Info: Team success and national exposure well noted. As I understand it the capacity of the dome can be expanded, not sure on how.
