Recruiting one Stanton brother seemed to have worked out pretty well for the Wyoming football team, and the Cowboy coaches are hoping the recent commitment they received from another Stanton brother proves just as successful.

Josh Stanton, a 6-2, 255-pound defensive end with 10 sacks to his credit for his Valencia, California High School, said Sunday that he has accepted a scholarship offer from the Wyoming Cowboys.

He is the Cowboys third known commitment for the Class of 2014. He will join his brother, Jordan on the Wyoming defense. This season Jordan is the Cowboy's top tackler with 93 stops on the year.

"I talked to my brother last week about school and football and nursing is one of the majors I want to look at and he said Wyoming is one the best schools for nursing," Josh said. "I like the school-wise and I like them football-wise. I could come in early and help out that defense a lot.

"I talked to (Interim Defensive Coordinator) Jamar Cain and (Wyoming Head Coach Dave) Christensen last Thursday. I called Coach Christensen and we were talking about the season and then what position I could play and he said he was really glad I committed and he wanted to get me into the system as soon as possible."

For the younger Stanton, the chance to play one year of college football with his brother was too much to pass up. Josh Stanton said his brother has told him playing football in Laramie is great and that Wyoming was the place for him.

"My brother was really stoked when I told him I had committed," Josh Stanton said. "He was happy to be able to play on the same team as me next year."

Josh said he was offered scholarships by Wyoming and Texas State and was picking up interest from Colorado State, Utah State, Utah and San Jose State. Stanton said he will take an official visit to Laramie in December and that will be his only visit as he has ended his recruitment.

"During school I am a good kid, but when that helmet comes on the offense doesn't want to line up across from me," Josh said. "I can make big hits."
