When Brett Smith left UW a year early for the NFL Draft, that left the door open for Jason Thompson to become the Cowboys' starting QB under new head coach Craig Bohl. But Thompson decided to follow former UW coach Dave Christensen to Utah. He sat out a year of competition to satisfy the transfer rule. In the meantime, Christensen bolted Utah. Now Thompson is eligible to his first action for the Utes this spring. He gets his shot, but was lined up in a safety position at Utah's first practice. I don't think that is what Thompson had in mind when he left UW.
