I've just sent off an email to Mr. Bret Gilliland, Deputy Commissioner of the MWC asking him to approach the Commissioner and urge him to urge the presidents to reconsider their decision of postpone/cancel the 2020 football season. I would have written Mr. Thompson the Commissioner, but the MWC staff directory didn't list his email address. For the record, here's what I wrote to Mr. Gilliland':
Mr. Bret Gilliland
Deputy Commissioner
Mountain West Conference
Dear Mr. Gilliland,
I am writing you to ask that you urge Mr. Thompson to approach the Presidents of the member schools to reconsider their decision to not play football this fall. As a fan and alumni of the University of Wyoming, it is truly sad to know my Cowboys will be sidelined. A large number of our fan base is appalled and mystified with the presidents’ decision, particularly since the SEC, ACC, and Big XII announced they’ll play. And now there are indications the Big 10 is reconsidering and may start their season by Thanksgiving. In addition, former MWC member BYU, looks to be proceeding as well.
At the very least, the presidents should have left it up to the individual schools to decide to proceed with an abbreviated season, if they so desire. I note with interest, that the Air Force Academy apparently has been told they’ll play their fellow service academies regardless of how their conference decides.
I believe if those conferences and the NFL believe they can pursue a season, there is no reason the MWC couldn't do the same. I believe with approved protocols the season could commence, even if we have no fans in the stands. At least we could have a season on television.
Again sir, I respectfully ask that you approach Mr. Thompson and ask him to reconsider and try and convince the presidents to let us have a 2020 football season.
Sincerely,
Jeffrey C. Fry

I urge all of you to write Mr. Gilliand a respectful email making the same request. I'm not sure what good it will do, but as least you can get your position known.
