Just got back from a Viking cruise to Sweden, Germany (Berlin), Poland, Denmark and Norway. Was suppose to go to Finland and Russia but Putin screwed that up. Two things for certain - First, all of those countries are on high alert due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and threats to invade other European countries. By and large the people in all of those countries don‘t like the Russians and haven’t for years.
Second, the Pokes are alive an well over there. Received several good comments from several of those countries. While in Stavanger, Norway a lovely couple approached us because they saw our UW hats. Both were engineers in the oil and gas sector. Turns out they both graduated from UW at the same time I played ball there. One was from Hartville, Wy. and the other was a native Norwegian. We had a great talk in the city square and they both follow the Cowboys. While we were throwing down a cold one in Berlin on our way to Checkpoint Charlie three young men next to us were sampling the local brew too. All three soldiers in the US Army and one had lived in Cheyenne for a spell. He asked us about the Cowboys because he saw our hats. Had a pleasant talk about the Pokes and Cheyenne. They just recently were assigned to a base there due to the potential advancement in Europe of Putin the pinhead. No matter where we travel I always proudly wear the Pokes hat and it never ceases to amaze me how identifiable steamboat is.
