Rochester (Ill.) speedster Avante Cox will be in Laramie this weekend for his first official visit, checking out the University of Wyoming. The 5-foot-10, 170-pound wideout claims a 4.45 time in the 40-yard dash as well as five scholarship offers.
“I have offers to Eastern Illinois, Wyoming, Western Illinois, Illinois State, and South Dakota,” Cox said. “College coaches like the fact I can play on both sides of the ball and I am not afraid of contact.”
This weekend he will be in Laramie after a long recruitment by Wyoming Defensive Backs Coach Curt Mallory. The future engineering major said he has spoken to many Wyoming coaches at this point and he is looking forward to being in Wyoming.
“The coaches have told me I am at the top of their list for this class,” Cox said. “I am looking forward to watching them in a championship game. I have heard it is a beautiful area and campus. I am looking forward to seeing Wyoming.”
Thus far Cox said his top five are Wyoming, Illinois State, South Dakota, Western Illinois, and Eastern Illinois.
