I have never been too much of a regular poster here, most of what I say is bleeped over and/or ignored, which is how it should be.
I have lived and died by the 'Pokes since 1976 (when my family moved to Wyoming and I caught that magical football year as a 10 year old), and I know the hard times have always made the (seemingly few) good times all that more sweet.
I taught history and worked at UW until they told me there was no more money for Lecturers like me, effectively cutting my family's income by 20%, and we were forced to move. I still follow as best I can the Cowboys from the West Coast.
However, just as in the public sphere, the desire to interject personal political beliefs, belittling people who might think differently, and relentlessly attacking with sometimes vicious and uncaring rhetoric ideas that somehow get people's panties into a wad, have worn me out. It is not fun to read most threads here - they always seem to end the same way, attacking those whom the poster doesn't like.
So I'm done. No loss really from my single quitting, just that this once solely sports forum has become a place where each clique, poster with an axe to grind, and competing worldviews clash. I realize there is no sports now, but each summer that is the same, and we haven't had this.
I'm sorry I'm weak, but this isn't a place I enjoy coming to anymore.
